BIOGRAPHY
15歳のときに札幌山の手高に留学。東海大在学中の2008年に20歳で代表に初選出。RWC2011は4試合にフル出場した。2013年に日本国籍を取得。2014年4月に日本代表のキャプテンに就任。RWC2015、RWC2019でも主将を務めた日本ラグビーの精神的支柱。 He enrolled at Sapporo Yamanote High School as part of an exchange program at the age of 15 and was first called-up to the national team in 2008 at the age of 20 while a student at Tokai University. He played in all 4 matches in the RWC 2011 and acquired Japanese citizenship in 2013. He was appointed Japan captain in April 2014 and has since been an invaluable member of the team, having captained the national team at RWC2015 and RWC2019.
